I inadvertently began The Affrilachian Memory Play series, in 2010, as a summer research intern at Virginia Tech through the Multicultural Academic Opportunities Program. 
I began my work with people and archives. Consequently, years later, performances are still based on oral histories, fieldwork, poetry and personal interviews with people of color in and of the region. This play series yields a complex view of an Affrilachian experience from multiple angles of creative, individual and collective survival.
